I wonder why so many people choose to live for others. In the end, those people will be gone, and your life will be wasted. It's much better to live for yourself, and if you please others, or make someone else's world a better place then that is a bonus. I don't understand how you can dedicate your life to a person who is going to do what he/she want's to do regardless of all your efforts. Whether it's your parents, siblings, significant other, whomever. Can you honestly imagine what it would be like to give all your energy to someone else, only to have that person not return the love, reciprocate the blood, sweat, and tears, despite your best efforts?
This is not a selfish point of view, but rather a beneficial way of life. How happy can you truly be if you stop yourself from doing things that you want to do because they will make someone else upset. I'm not talking about not doing drugs or something crazy or irrational because it will upset your loved ones. I mean pursuing your dreams because in the end you will be the only one with regrets.
Has anyone ever told you that they loved you, then followed it up with something profound, like 'I'll die for you'? That's sweet, but when the chips are down, I really wonder who would really sacrifice their own life so that someone else would live, besides Jesus.
